LAUNCH DAY | Ulster Camogie Ambassadors Step Forward
LAUNCH DAY | Ulster Camogie Ambassadors Step Forward

Thursday 10th of April marked the powerful launch of a campaign that goes beyond sport. Our Ulster Camogie Ambassadors have shown immense bravery by standing up, speaking out, and breaking the silence around issues that have too often been hidden in shame. This campaign is about changing the culture — from one of silence to one of support. From carrying things alone, to carrying each other.
We are proud to have 14 incredible women speaking out on topics such as mental health, addiction, LGBTQIA+ identity, pregnancy, and many more important and often overlooked issues. These women are leading the way — not just for camogie, but for all of women’s sport, proving that true strength lies in honesty, vulnerability, and solidarity.
💛 Their courage = hope.  Their voices = change.  Their stories = solidarity.
👏 These women are more than athletes — they are leaders, role models, and changemakers.

This is just the beginning. The conversation is open. The shift is happening. And the future is brighter because of them.
At our Launch our Ulster Camogie Chairperson Karen McCormick, who herself is one of our ambassador’s leading the way said “I just want to take a moment to sincerely thank each and every one of you — our incredible Ulster Camogie Ambassadors — for your courage, your honesty, and your strength. Standing up and speaking out is never easy, especially when the subject is personal, emotional, and often wrapped in silence and shame. But today, in stepping forward, you’ve broken that silence. You’ve shown not only bravery, but leadership — the kind that inspires real, lasting change.  Your voices matter, the culture of shame that has existed for too long in women’s sport has no place here.  Instead, we are creating a new culture — one built on support, respect, and solidarity. Because of you, young girls coming up in our sport will know it’s okay to speak their truth. They’ll see that their stories are valid, that their struggles are not theirs to carry alone, and that in this community, we lift each other up and support each other on and off the field. We are hopeful — because of you. And we are proud beyond words.  Thank you for showing us what strength really looks like.”
Let’s listen. Let’s learn. Let’s support them every step of the way.
